Sims 4 is the fourth major title in the most popular gaming series THE SIMS. The game lets you achieve dreams that are otherwise not possible in real life.
If you’re already a fan, you already know that you can have children but did you also know that you could have twins? It’s fun to have two identical tiny toddlers to play around with if you are into the whole masochism thing. Heck, you can even have triplets! But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. First, you find out if you can handle twins.
Twins, You Say?
You can actually manipulate everything about your Sims pregnancy right from the gender of the baby to making sure you give birth to not one but two babies. Although I must warn you it’s a little difficult to guarantee it. It is completely random with a lower than average percentage. You can increase the odds by getting yourself pregnant and then getting the Fertile reward as well as living on “On Ley Line” trait.
Check out some more traits you can use:
The reward trait:
Aka the fertile, this trait assures that you have twins regardless of who possesses the trait. It is independent of who carries the child or who impregnates the Sim. You might also be glad to know that your chances of having twins is almost assured if both your Sims possess the trait. You can get the trait from the rewards store in exchange for 3000 satisfaction points.
The LOT trait:
After the release of the City Living Expansion pack, the lot trait got a new update. One of the traits added to the LOT trait is called ON THE LEY LINE. If the two Sims conceived on any LOT with that trait, their odds of having twins will be higher. The best thing about this trait is that it could be stacked with any fertile trait.
On the Dark Ley Line:
Another trait added to the LOT is On The Dark Ley Line. It shares a similar mechanism with the former but only works if either or both the Sims are vampires. However, this trait is available only if you have the Vampires Game pack installed.
Bring in the SimCity child services:
The Sims adoption agency allows the adoption of only one child at once by default. It is not possible for one family to adopt twins. There is, however, a loophole. For this to work, you’ll need two played family.
The player would have to make the first family give birth to twins, then completely ignore the twins until Child services barge into your virtual home and take them away. The second family can then adopt both the child with two separate transactions. All these may seem a bit complicated, but it’s worth the trouble.
Spa Day wellness Pack:
Using this pack will enable Sims to get a Fertility Massage at the spa, or you can even get it from a Sim trained in the Wellness skill. If you own a massage table at home, this will save you the trouble of going out to a spa. It may increase the chances of conceiving twins.
There are also some cheats you can use to make sure your Sims have twins.
- For the cheat code to work, you’ll need the id of your Sim. Type sims.get_sim_id_by_name (type the name of the Sim here.) Once you type this, a long stretch of numbers will appear. Remember to write it down in a piece of paper.
- Once your Sim’s id has been generated, you can use it to alter the number of babies you desire. The maximum number you can conceive is 7 but remember that your household limit is 8. So do a little math and save your game.
- Next, enter the following code on the entry box ≫pregnancy.force_offspring_count (enter Sim ID) (number of offsprings you want for your Sim.) It is recommended to use this cheat along with the forced labor cheat as this will allow your Sim to give birth a lot faster than the normal time period.
Note: You’re advised to save your game before using a cheat as it might keep you on the safe side in case something went wrong.
Sims offer players the versatility of pursuing a virtual life but keep in mind that just as in real life, taking care of babies is not an easy task. One child may be manageable but two-three kids at the same time might get out of hand. If you don’t nurture them properly, you might get a visit from the child services and if you get unlucky, from the grim reaper. So it is wise to manage your game according to what you can handle. You may contact a nanny to give you a helping hand but don’t forget to have fun. Building a virtual life on Sims is always fun.
